Precision and Ease of Use in High Performance Oxygen Permeation Analyzers
Oxygen permeation, otherwise known as
oxygen transmission rate (OTR), is the amount of oxygen that passes through
a material. Most commonly used in the food packaging, oxygen permeation
rates are of interest to prevent food from spoiling or having an off-flavor.
When oxygen permeates through the packaging material, the oxygen reacts
with the food product. In some cases, packages with high oxygen permeation
are desired. Fresh cut fruits and vegetables actually require that
the packaging material have some oxygen permeation.
Illinois Instruments
offers two different oxygen permeation analyzers for measuring oxygen permeation.
The Model 8001 Oxygen Permeation Analyzer
is considered a full turn-key system with variable temperature and controlled
relative humidity while the Model 8500 Oxygen
Permeation Analyzer has fixed temperature and smaller measuring
range.
The Model 8001 Oxygen Permeation Analyzer
offers a measuring range of 0.0005 to 28,000 cc/100in2/day OTR, 5 to 50oC
temperature range, and 0-90% RH range. This oxygen permeation analyzer
has 2 test chambers, but is expandable up to 12 chambers per system.
The Model 8001 Oxygen Permeation Analyzer
measures the oxygen permeation of flexible barrier materials as well as
all types of packages. The oxygen permeation analyzer offers a full
measuring range of oxygen permeation, controlled temperature, and controlled
relative humidity without the need of buying multiple units. Operated
with Windows-based software, the 8001 Oxygen Permeation Analyzer is simple
to operate. Simply load the film into the package, select target
temperature and press start. Finally, an oxygen permeation analyzer
you can rely on.
