Instruments offers permeation testing service for oxygen transmission rate
(OTR) for both for film testing and package testing. Film testing
is available for water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), but no package testing
at this time. Package testing for oxygen transmission rate (OTR)
uses ambient air for its source of oxygen. Therefore, package testing
is done at roughly 23oC and ambient relative humidity (RH).
Pricing for package
testing is dependent on the package. Please contact Illinois Instruments
using the Contact
Us
form to obtain pricing information for film testing or package testing.

Illinois
Instruments’ Test Laboratory offers oxygen and water vapor permeation
testing on a wide range of products including films, bottles, bags, containers,
sleeves, and pouches.
All testing
is performed in our controlled environment laboratory using highly sensitive
and precisely calibrated permeation and gas analysis instrumentation.
Illinois Instruments
never employs prediction or other methodologies to reduce lab costs at
the expense of reliable and accurate results.
Permeation
Testing Capabilities -
Illinois Instruments
performs Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) testing of flat barrier materials
in accordance with ASTM testing procedure D3985.
Tests can be
performed under real life conditions with specified temperature and relative
humidity on both sides of the film. In addition, the laboratory can test
any size package including bottles, bags, or pouches.
Water Vapor
Transmission Rates (WVTR) can be tested on all types of flat film barriers
including foils, plastic film, coated papers, and laminates.
Headspace
Analysis -
Our testing
laboratory offers oxygen and carbon dioxide headspace analysis on all types
of packages including flexible, rigid, and semi-rigid packaging materials.
Our quality instrumentation measures 0 to 100% for both gases. |
